Want to find your way from A to B?

You should try:

I've used it a couple of times today, and it was great.

* Uses OpenStreetMap data
* Service provided by HeiGIT
* Doesn't spy on you
* Maps look great
* Effective routes
* Share with friends
* Add your own tracks
* Export to GPX plus others
* Elevation profile

You can also go to C, D, E and many more.

Seems like the YUM/DNF repositories of "" got pwnd.

Check your systems if you have this repository around:

sudo grep -r '' /etc/yum.repos.d/

And if so may reinstall the machine.

Got the hint from:

Made it

It's always good to have old software around. In this case: Raspbian wheezy from 2014.

Currently upgrading to Jessie

apt-get dist-upgrade says:

"608 upgraded, 497 newly installed, 11 to remove and 0 not upgraded."

So basically I just installed an OS that replaces itself in the first 30 minutes of it's usage

Mhm, I thought all the news around the RPi 4 would be a good reason to setup one of my old RPis again, but turns out this is a lot less successful then expected.

My main problem: I have no HDMI capable display around, so I wanted to go for an headless install. But right now, I get no other status than the PowerLED showing a red light

What I tried:

1. Another SD card
2. Another Raspberry Pi board (same model)
3. Another power supply
4. Another (older, already working) OS image

None worked佞

Hi @aral !

We've almost completed the crowdfunding of #Mobilizon (our not-so-secret project to get our events off Facebook!)

I think Mobilizon fits perfectly with the #smalltech concept.

However, as you know, we are struggling to make our actions known outside France, so - now that we don't need more money (we won't do "more" with "more money") - we need help to make the project known to non-French-speaking activists.
Can you help us?

Do you use `pass` as password manager on your machine?

There is an extension to verify your passwords against the HIBP database of known passwords and make sure that your password wasn't exposed during a data breach. (Of course without telling your password apart)

This extension is packaged on as pass-pwned.

Brian "bex" Exelbierd wrote an article about it, and how to install it on any other distro on

Pro tip: Monitor your LE certificates using Atom feeds:

Just subscribe to:<domain you want to watch goes here>

And get all issued certificates for that domain right to your feed reader. Great and useful service with interesting results.

By the way, it might also be a good point to start using the `expect-ct` header:

Ich hatte gestern dieses Seminar, in dem ich mit den Studies ein wenig auf unserer eigenen #Mastodon-Instanz herumgedaddelt habe. Hier mal ein erstes Fazit:

How to shock people?

When they have a routine of collecting personal data, like name, address and phone number, ask them why.

At least the phone number is never needed for the billing process, so it's usually not required by law.

Quite interesting what responses you get from them.

Huh, it seems like someone signed up my contact email address for the Cloudflare newsletter

I'm slightly annoyed.

That's a very awesome article talking about reCAPTCHA and its toxic behavior.

And not only that, it also shows various alternatives and ways to get the same result without selling your users to Google.

"<insert data harvesting app in here> is much more comfortable than <insert good free software solution here>" Sure When you are comfortable with company harvesting your data

"But they are all doing it" same was once said about witch burning

"I'm not important, they are not interested in me" Why do you think you are important enough to not steal your data, when you do it with everyone?

"I have nothing to hide" but still lock the door when you go on the toilette

Seems like there is another hardware exploit called "RAMbleed".

TL;DR: By using the error correction of bit flips, it's possible to steal secrets our of a systems memory that are not owned by the process which reads the memory.

While it's awesome to see that made it to version 1.0 with Synapse, I recommend to stay relaxed about this release.

While hanging out in Synapse Admins yesterday, I felt like the release might be a bit rushed. When you are on 0.99.2 relax and update at the end of the week. I'm sure we'll see a 1.0.1 very soon.

Unit tests are gold.

I just upgraded our ORM 2 major releases and was able to find all broken things by using the Unit tests provided by @amenthes

Thank you so much for that!
