It took me just a few months to figure out the location of the emoji keyboard on the AOSP keyboard.

But there is it, holding the "send"-button for a second and then swipe up.

I really didn't expect it there.

Thanks to @aral I have a new intro-to-Good-Todo video on the goodtodo.com homepage.

It doesn't show Gmail, and it's not hosted on YouTube.

Watch it here: vimeo.com/361492469

Just if one searches for reasons why you might want to take above in consideration:

To be honest, the way of using `use-application-dns.net` being blocked by **unauthenticated**, regular DNS servers is the worst idea one could come up with.

It makes it trivial to perform a downgrade attack on any network and makes a lot of the promises DoH by default provides useless.

There are good reasons why we don't allow downgrades on other protocols, so why suddenly on HTTP?

The answer is as always "we don't want to break [wrongly setup] things".

Following up my previous post on building desktop apps with #GTK and #Rust, I've just released a tutorial on how to package those apps with #Flatpak and publish on #Flathub.

And if you are not using feeds to stay up to day, here are some arguments why it might be a good idea and how to do that:

For those who don't use my RSS feed to stay up to date with my blog, I have some new. I sneaked a new blog post out this week:

Not overly special, just the few commands I use to encrypt my external hard drive with LUKS to use it as a secure place to store stuff like backups.

It might sounds weird, but if you want to safe a little bit of energy, use a light theme on your notebook.[1]

Since the energy consumption of your display depends on its brightness, and you can turn down brightness easier on a light theme, due to better contrast of elements.

Therefore a light theme, can actually safe some energy and increase battery life.

Friends at Fedora with a Yahoo account, please watch out:

smoogespace.blogspot.com/2019/

TL;DR: Yahoo filters mails form Fedora's mailinglists etc. So when you want to stay in the loop, you either have to check bugzilla and Hyperkitten yourself, or maybe just get another mail provider.

I recommend to get an own domain while switching (if you not already have), that makes switching in future so much easier 😉

On the other hand I have to say: Most other hosting providers, don't even provide the company names they use as energy suppliers.

So I'm currently asking more and more of them, how they approach this and share those names.

Feel free to contribute to this thread by doing the same research for your hosters :)

So I just started to check providers and their energy sources/promises.

|s cost tons of and therefore we might want to make sure they are not ruining our future.

5 minutes of research:

states on their website
100% renewable energy.

Their german power supplier on the other hand states: 67 percent for 2017.

The finish one, even reports only reports 37% in 2012.
